Choose the structure that matches your budget
Turn Nested envelopes on when one envelope needs smaller budgetable parts. Turn Budget by envelope group on when a whole group should share one assignment. These controls live in Settings → Budget Features and change how money is organized, not how much cash you have.
A nested envelope keeps its own assigned, activity, available, and goal amounts. Group budgeting gives the group one assignment row while its transactions still belong to individual envelopes.
Containers are a progress view
A container gathers related envelopes into one progress view, such as a Moving Fund made from Deposits, Furniture, and Travel. Adding an envelope to a container does not copy it, move its money, or change its group.
Open Tools → Containers from the Budget page to create, reorder, rename, or remove containers and choose which envelopes they include.
Protected savings adds a deliberate warning
Mark an envelope as protected savings when it should be the last place you borrow from. ReadyCents asks for confirmation before available money leaves it. The protection is a guardrail, not a separate bank account or a lock on the underlying cash.
Auto-assign, Quick Fill, and snoozed goals
Auto-assign and Quick Fill use your current goals and shortages to suggest assignments. Review the preview before applying it. If a goal should stop asking for money this month, snooze that goal instead of deleting it; its long-term setup stays intact.
Archive, delete, restore, or permanently remove
Archiving or deleting an envelope hides it from the active budget without breaking old transactions. Open Envelope History to restore archived or deleted envelopes. Permanent removal takes the envelope out of that history too, but existing transactions keep a readable (removed) label.
