Appearance and accessibility
Open Settings → Customization on the web to choose light, dark, or system theme; primary and status colors; color-vision support; display density; and font size. Mobile Settings includes its own appearance controls and can sync appearance with the web when you want one look across devices.
Appearance settings change presentation only. They do not alter amounts, transactions, or account data.
Budget settings and feature switches
Budget Settings controls the budget name, currency, currency placement, number format, and date format. Budget Features controls optional structure, tax tools, calendar, overspending carryover, receipt capture, and payee-based autofill. Review the note beside a switch before changing it because some choices affect future entry or month behavior.
Optional Features: Your Budget, Your Way explains every Budget Features switch, its starting state, and how opting out differs from deleting data or cancelling paid access.
Protect your account and individual budgets
Two-factor authentication uses an authenticator app at sign-in and includes one-time backup codes. Save the codes outside ReadyCents; generating a new set makes the old set stop working. Two-factor authentication is recommended for your account and optional for Plaid connections.
A budget owner can also add a separate password to an individual budget. That password protects the budget after account sign-in, which is useful when several budgets live under one ReadyCents login. On mobile, biometric unlock adds a face or fingerprint check on that device.
Optional passkeys and trusted devices
In Settings → Security, add a passkey to sign in using a supported device, password manager, or security key instead of typing your password. Name passkeys so you recognize them later; you can rename or remove them in the same area. Removing one prevents that passkey from working for sign-in.
Trusted-device duration controls how long ReadyCents skips the authenticator prompt after you choose Trust this device at sign-in. Saving a duration does not automatically trust every device. Only trust a device you control, and keep access to your authenticator and backup codes.
These are account-security choices, not Budget Features switches. Passkey support depends on your browser, device, and sign-in service availability. Keep another working sign-in method before removing a passkey.
Payees, exports, and backups
Manage Payees lets you search, rename, hide, merge, or remove saved payees and maintain aliases for imported bank text. Export Data creates budget, transaction, account, or per-account CSV files and a lossless JSON backup on your device. Store exports securely because they contain financial history.
Fresh Start and account deletion are different
Fresh Start clears the current budget's transaction and assignment history while letting you choose whether to keep accounts, balances, envelopes, goals, or payee suggestions. It is for rebuilding a budget, not closing your ReadyCents login.
Permanent account deletion is in Profile's danger zone and removes the ReadyCents login, budgets, transactions, bank connections, and receipts. Read the confirmation carefully before either action; neither should be used as a quick troubleshooting step.
